After reading a story about Janczewski family whose son was abused by a teacher in a public school I decided to check the statistics on child abuse in public schools. Thanks to President Bush's No Child Left Behind Act, in 2002 the Department of Education carried out a study of sexual abuse in the school system.
Surprise, surprise. "The physical sexual abuse of students in (public) schools is likely more than 100 times the abuse by priests." This little piece of information was never published in any news media that I know of. While those statistics were easily available the press would only write (2000 stories in 6 month) about abuse in Catholic institutions. Can you guess why???
