The future of Eastern Europe is not as bright as you might think

If you think that things in the Eastern Europe are finally getting better think again. Eastern Europe is bracing for the coming conflict, or even war, with Russia. How can we tell? Just read our headlines (on the left) and/or look into our archives. Nearly all Eastern European countries, except for Poland (for now), are planning to go back to the draft system instead of volunteer, or professional, military.

Poland, will run a countywide military drill, something (if memory serves) that has not happened in the last 45 years, not even during the invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968 when war was a real possibility.
"Poland will stress-test its defense capabilities with a series of countrywide drills involving the government, local authorities and the military in response to the Ukraine crisis, Polish president's chief security adviser said." (see headlines).
Poland is also planing to call up men with no military experience to take part in compulsory army training. Again, something that has never happened before.

If you asked me, I would say it's about time we told our politicians to start paying more attention to what Putin is up to.
