Poland's first migrant related riot - dozens detained following death in north-eastern Poland

Elk, Poland: 21 year old man died after he was stabbed multiple times outside a kebab restaurant on New Year's Eve. Local police said that the owner of the bar and a cook, both of North African origin, were detained in relation to the killing. The cook was later charged with a killing.

Media reports quoted unofficial sources as saying that the man was involved in a fight with the owners after an unspecified incident inside the restaurant.

On Sunday, hundreds of locals gathered in front of the restaurant to pay their respect to the dead man and light candles. However, some individuals broke the glass on the front of the restaurant and ignited fireworks inside the property. The riot police adopted “adequate measures” deploying pepper gas on the crowd and arresting 28 people,
