Poland marks 50th anniversary of 1968 student demonstrations that resulted in anti-Semitic campaign

On March 6th a special concert was held at the Warsaw Philharmonic on Tuesday night to mark 50 years since landmark student demonstrations in Poland in March 1968.
The nationwide student demonstrations five decades ago became a spark for a power struggle within the communist party and triggered a government-orchestrated anti-Semitic campaign that eventually forced up to 20,000 Polish Jews to leave the country. more>>>

Amid diplomatic crisis with Israel over Holocaust law, Warsaw MPs overwhelmingly approved resolution to honor mass anti-communist protests that occurred 50 years ago, and to condemn an anti-Semitic purge that ensued. Both the right-wing ruling party and the opposition backed the resolution on the 1968 events in communist-ruled Poland. more>>>
