EU Parliament voted to trigger disciplinary procedures against Hungary for undermining democratic rules by breaking the voting rules

The old saying sound true again and again: "It's not the people who vote that count, it's the people who count the votes."

"The Hungarian government considers this decision to be legally ineffective and is currently examining the necessary legal steps resulting from non-compliance with the Treaty on the functioning of the EU," wrote delegates representing the ruling coalition in Hungary.

The resolution calls for the launch of art. 7 of the EU Treaty against Hungary was adopted with 448 votes for, 197 against and 48 abstentions. Abstentions were not included in the calculation of the result but should. If they did count abstentions the resolution would fail.
