Republicans make serious mistake, Democrats are playing for more time to break Kavanaugh and his family

Allowing the accuser more time to decide if and when she wants to testify gives Democrats more time to play a brutal game of intimidation, harassment and outright threats to Judge Kavanaugh and his family. And it's the first time they do that to Republican. They did that on several occasions and all of them right in front of the whole nation, and that's why it is surprising that Republicans pretend that they don't know what is going on. 

So, they are not trying to slow the process down because they have some proof hidden somewhere or because they want to drag it till after elections. They just want more time to "work" on their target. And don't be surprised if after Kavanaugh withdraws his candidacy the accusations magically disappear.
