Polish media: Poland has decided to transfer a company of Leopard tanks to Ukraine as part of an international coalition, President Andrzej Duda announced at a press conference in Lviv.
"We have decided that such support for Ukraine from the Polish side will take place. A company of Leopard tanks will be handed over as part of coalition building. A whole range of formal requirements, approvals, etc. must be met. We want it to be an international coalition and we have decided to include the first tank package in this coalition, the Leopard tank company, which I hope will be joined with other tank companies, including Leopard and others that will be submitted by other states, will soon flow through various routes to Ukraine, and it will be possible to strengthen the defense of Ukraine. Such a decision has already been made in Poland" - President Andrzej Duda said today during the press conference after the meeting of the Lublin Triangle (Poland, Lithuania and Ukraine).
On Wednesday, the presidents of Poland and Lithuania met with president Zelenski in Lviv.
Last Friday, the Wall Street Journal reported that the Polish government was considering Ukraine's request to send its Leopard 2 tanks. As "WSJ" wrote, Poland has over 240 German Leopard 2 tanks in various versions, and they are much better armored and protected against anti-tank missiles than vehicles donated so far by the USA, Germany, or France.
