Yesterday, Donald Tusk announced that the government will persuade MPs to cut spending in entities that enjoy "budget autonomy"—including the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN), National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT), or the Chancellery of the President — so that flood victims will "positively feel" the effects. However, he bypassed the Chancellery of the Council of Ministers, where he sits — probably "by accident."
The head of the KPRP, Małgorzata Paprocka, was asked today on Polsat News how President Andrzej Duda accepted the government's proposal to reduce funds for his office. She pointed out that the president himself ordered her to review the expenses for this year. "And we gave over PLN 3 million to the Minister of Finance," she noted.
"There will be a discussion in the Sejm, where we will answer questions. Where we will be able to answer every question. However, if we cut, let's cut and not for political reasons." – said the head of the KPRP.
PiS MP Radosław Fogiel also emphasized that he was not opposed to cutting the budgets of various institutions to make them contribute to aid. However, he pointed out one interesting fact.
"However, we need to pay attention to what the key is - the National Broadcasting Council, the Supreme Court, the president's office, and how much was given by the Chancellery of the Prime Minister? - asked the PiS MP, emphasizing that the Chancellery of the Prime Minister is not on this list.
Fogiel pointed out that the institutions whose budgets are to be cut have not been "taken over by the government yet." Therefore - as he added - "the first step is that their budgets will be cut.
"I believe that the flood is only a political pretext to cut funding for the functioning of institutions not controlled by the current government." – he pointed out.
