Hollywood should pay attention to this case. It would make a good script for a silly political comedy.
Zbigniew Ziobro, former Minister of Justice, was detained by the police at the headquarters of TV Republika, where he was giving an interview to Michał Rachon. The PiS MP did not put up any resistance. He was transported in an unmarked police car to the Sejm - there he was to be questioned before the Pegasus investigative committee. But he was prevented from entering the chamber by security officers acting on the orders of the committee's leader.
Politicians from the ruling coalition who sit on the parliamentary committee concluded that Ziobro did not appear for the hearing on time (he was standing outside). Therefore, a motion for a 30-day arrest for the former head of the Ministry of Justice was passed; one MP, Przemysław Wipler, was against. With that, the committee ended its session.
Apparently, members of the Pegasus (spying software allegedly used by the previous government) committee knew that Ziobro was in the building because they were rushing each other, saying: "Hurry up, he'll be here soon." They did not allow MP Ćwik to speak in order to speed up the vote on the request for a 30-day arrest against Zbigniew Ziobro and not to question him.
PN: It appears that all of this was a trap, so there was a reason to issue a 30-day arrest for a man fighting cancer.
