The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski, announced that the monument to the murdered Polish prisoners of war - victims of the Katyn massacre, located at the Polish War Cemetery in Mednoye in Russia, had been vandalized. Based on the decision of the Prosecutor's Office of the Tver Region, the bas-relief of the Order of the War Cross Virtuti Militari and the Cross of the September Campaign of 1939 were cut off from the cemetery monument. Sikorski emphasized that he demands a reaction in this matter from the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN).
IPN spokesman Rafał Leśkiewicz responded to the minister: The Polish government is responsible for the care of the war cemetery in Miednoje. This results directly from the provisions of the agreement of February 22, 1994, signed by the government of Poland and the government of the Russian Federation. Minister Radosław Sikorski is simply making up lies when he says that he expects a reaction from the Institute of National Remembrance in this matter.
PN: What IPN is not saying, but everyone who watches Polish affairs knows is that is a direct attack on the presidential candidate who is also a President of IPN.
To use such inhumane act by Russia against victims of demonic leader of communist regime against a political opponent is a new low from Mr. Sikorski. His wife, Anne Applebaum, is an internationally known journalist and historian. He should know better.
