The European Commission has ignored important American politicians who are concerned about the election campaign in Poland, where the campaign of one of the candidates (Rafał Trzaskowski) is allowed to be illegally financed from abroad, while the other candidate (Karol Nawrocki) is deprived of even the funds due to Law and Justice from the state budget.
The EC, through its spokesman, stated that it does not deal with electoral processes, as this is the responsibility of national authorities. He also argued that the Union supports "free and fair elections".
Interestingly, the EU had no problem with constant interference in Polish politics during the rule of Law and Justice. However, when the authorities associated with the EU establishment govern, even gross violations of the law are not noticed.
