After losing the presidential election, Donald Tusk's government is now actively attempting to invalidate the result and delegitimize the Supreme Court that is constitutionally tasked with confirming Karol Nawrocki as the new President of Poland.
Polish Justice Minister and Prosecutor General officially stated that the Chamber of Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs of the Supreme Court — the body that must certify presidential elections — “is not a court” and that its ruling will not be recognized by the government.
This opens the door to a full-blown constitutional crisis.
For the first time since the collapse of communism in Poland (in 1989), a counted and officially confirmed election is being denied by the left-leaning government.
"While the world is focused on wars and summits, a critical battle for democracy is playing out here in Poland. Don’t look away," - journalist Michal Rachon.
PN: Since the results were almost 50-50, this may lead to unrest throughout the country and seriously undermine Ukraine's war effort. And let me remind you that Donald Tusk has already shown his willingness to give Russia half of Poland without a fight.
