Germans trade in souvenirs of victims of Nazi crimes. This is why Germany has to pay the war reparations to Poland; Germans still don't understand, or don't know, the scale of the crimes committed in Poland during WWII.
People in Poland are in shock, even the President has reacted:
The President of the Republic of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, expects the Polish government to demand the return and, ultimately, buy all memorabilia of the victims of German crimes on Polish soil, and add the cost of this undertaking to the general reparations bill, Rafał Leśkiewicz, spokesman for the President of the Republic of Poland, announced today on social media.
Felzmann Auction House in Neuss (North Rhine-Westphalia) has announced the auction of the private collection "The Terror System Part II 1933-1945" to begin on November 17. The list of items 623 items for sale, including a letter from an Auschwitz prisoner with a "very low number" to an addressee in Krakow and a medical diagnosis from the Dachau concentration camp concerning the forced sterilization of a prisoner.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski announced via Platform X that he had discussed the matter with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul. "We agreed that such outrage must be prevented."
The spokesman for the President of the Republic of Poland emphasized that "we still feel the consequences of the lack of accountability for German sins."
"The President will consistently demand reparations for German crimes committed in Poland during World War II," he added.
Two hours after the publication of President Karol Nawrocki's statement, the Felzmann Auction House removed the announcement of the planned auction from its website.
