The European Commission has approved Poland's application for state aid for a strategic nuclear project, deeming the financing mechanism compliant with EU rules.
The approval from Brussels concludes the notification process that has been ongoing since last year and allows for the first funds to be transferred to the company.
The head of government emphasized that the entire financing package is secured and the project "can get off to a flying start." Following the European Commission's announcement, confirmation also appeared on social media from EU Budget Commissioner Piotr Serafin, who wrote about the "green light" for Polish nuclear energy.
Portal wPolityce published a commentary that points out that further delays in the implementation process of the nuclear power plant mean that there is still no certainty whether the current government is simply misleading the public by claiming that they are building it, even though it is well that Germany is doing and will continue to do everything to prevent it from being built in Poland.
