Poland and Italy in Shock, Polish Couple Hospitalized After Brutal Attack and Rape

A Polish woman has been raped and her husband bashed unconscious by a group of four attackers at a beach in Rimini, Italy. Some reports say that the rape lasted most of the night then the gang attacked a transgender Peruvian, whom they dumped roadside.

The group with whom the Polish couple had been travelling has returned to Poland. The man has been released from hospital while his wife remains, in shock and under psychological care.

Local authorities have expressed outrage, calling the attack "brutal and bestial", Poland's PAP news agency reported. It has been reported that Poland is sending a special police team to help with an investigation.
