Thousands of Solidarity union members protested in Warsaw

In Warsaw thousands of Poles, most of them members of Solidarity, protested in front of the European Commission (EC) building against its meddling in Polish affairs. They don't want EC's intervention into the planned lowering of the retirement age in Poland.

The organizers say that the protest is not against the European Union, but some of its bureaucrats who think that their power is limitless. In particular the protest is against EC's legal measures against Poland over the right to early retirement of female judges who can retire at an age of 60 as opposed to 65 for male judges. Solidarity reminded the EC that it is a privilege, not a requirement and they want them to butt out.
