The theory that Donald Tusk's rise to power is the worst thing to have happened to Poland since 1989 is challenging to prove, and, judging by what has happened to some people, dangerous. Some people saw their careers go up in smoke under mysterious circumstances, while others are drugged through courts with, in many cases, dubious charges.
Was Prime Minister Donald Tusk planning a coup?
If we are to believe the media, he was planning a coup. Still, he wanted to keep his hands clean by delegating this task to his political ally, Szymon Holownia, the Marshal of the Sejm (equivalent of Speaker of the House).
According to unofficial reports, Hołownia received an obvious proposal from Donald Tusk to disrupt the National Assembly and prevent Karol Nawrocki from being sworn in as president. In Poland, inciting a coup is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
Marcin Fijołek of Polsat News revealed in his podcast that he had learned of a proposal PM Tusk made to Szymon Hołownia. The PM allegedly expected the Speaker of the Sejm to "postpone" the swearing-in of Karol Nawrocki as President of Poland, because of the urgent need to count the votes.
Szymon Hołownia, and I know this from a good source, let's call it that, received a very clear proposal from Donald Tusk, or rather an offer or suggestion, to postpone Karol Nawrocki's swearing-in, or to actually implement the scenario presented by Professor Andrzej Zoll. I mean, there's the National Assembly, Szymon Hołownia opens it, but after two minutes he says, "I'm ordering a recess for the "Saint of Never" (as long as we need), or for two weeks, because we need to count the votes." Szymon Hołownia refused. And I think this is also a source of additional tension between Tusk and Hołownia," - reported Fijołek
The chairwoman of the National Council of the Judiciary, Judge Dagmara Pawełczyk-Woicka, admitted that this is a grave matter that "must be thoroughly explained."
PN: This would be a second alleged coup attempt by Donald Tusk. The first one (see next post) is currently under investigation by an independent judge. The Tusk's interview was scheduled for this week, but Tusk did not appear.
