Holocaust survivor to the New Yorker: "Check the facts before publishing such lies!"

I am asking the "New Yorker" - in the future, check the historical facts more carefully before publishing such a lie as this article about the alleged attacks on historians researching the Polish role in the Holocaust or about "Polish Nazis."

- In these words, Edward Mosberg, a Polish Jew who had lost 16 members of his family during the Second World War, addressed the New Yorker's editorial office.

Last week, the American publication “The New Yorker” published an article by Masha Gessen entitled “The Historians Under Attack for Exploring Poland’s Role in the Holocaust.” The author of the text writes that “in order to clear the nation of the accusation of murdering three million Jews, the Polish government goes so far as to prosecute for defamation of two scientists” Jan Grabowski and Barbara Engelking.

The article caused outrage from many circles. It brought the reaction from, among others, the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Jewish communities - including the Forum of Polish Jews and the Committee of American Jews for Central Europe.

Yesterday, on the Polish radio station program, "Poland In," Edward Mosberg, a Polish Jew who lost 16 members of his family during the Second World War, reacted emotionally to Masha Gessen's text.

I, Edward Mosberg, am asking the "New Yorker" - in the future, check the historical facts more carefully before publishing such a lie as this article about the alleged attacks on historians researching the Polish role in the Holocaust or about "Polish Nazis."

Shame, a disgrace, what these people wrote about the responsibility of Poles. Poles were not responsible for anything you wrote down. The Germans committed all the crimes. "Polish concentration camps"? There has never been anything like this. Had it not been for Germany, the Holocaust would never have happened on Polish soil. We must remember that there were never any Polish camps, - said Mr. Mosberg.
