The European Commission has decided that it will ask the Court of Justice of the European Union to impose financial penalties on Poland for non-compliance concerning the Disciplinary Chamber of the Supreme Court. The Minister of Justice referred to this decision at a press conference.
"The European Commission is well aware that it has no right to interfere in the matters of the systemic organization of the judiciary by EU countries. It results not only directly from the letter of the EU treaties, but it also results from the decisions of the constitutional courts of many EU countries" - said Zbigniew Ziobro.
TVN 24 interrupted the conference to "straighten" the allegedly false information by broadcasting a statement by a spokesman for the European Commission and an expert invited to the studio. Broadcasting of the conference resumed only after journalists asked questions.
