Polish billionaires join forces on the issue of nuclear power

Polish billionaires, Zygmunt Solorz and Michał Sołowow, decided to start a joint project aimed at building a nuclear power plant in Pątnów on the property of ZE PAK. The power plant will be based on American (SMRs). The investment may help Poland to implement the demanding energy transformation plan.

“We need cheap and clean energy to be able to develop as a state and society. Atom is a clean and ecological source of energy and this project connected us with Michał (Sołowow). The common goal, i.e. clean and competitive Poland, is worth taking up the challenge and I am convinced that we can achieve it together,” says Zygmunt Solorz.

This is the most serious - so far - project related to nuclear energy and SMR. Thanks to the creation of a joint venture based on some of the assets of ZE PAK, it has a great chance of implementation - due to its location and the already existing electricity transmission infrastructure there.

“Pątnów is a location indicated in the Polish Nuclear Power Program. Our plans are not competitive to the state's plans - SMR will not replace large state-owned energy, but they can perfectly complement it and gradually replace some of the power generated from fossil fuels, and in a short time they can help to overcome the lack of available capacity in the energy system resulting from shutting down more coal-fired units and increasing demand for electricity, ”says Piotr Woźny, President of the Management Board of ZE PAK.
