Warsaw Uprising Calendar: September 13 & 14 - German troops attack Upper Czerniaków


September 13

The Germans destroyed four bridges: Poniatowski, Kierbedzia, Gdansk, and Średnicowy. 

Another two large (September 13 and 17) deportations of Warsaw residents to Auschwitz. In total, 4,000 people were transported there.


September 14th

- Joseph Stalin signed an order to capture Praga.

- In the fighting for Praga, 1,792 soldiers of the 1st Infantry Division of the Polish People's Army were killed or wounded.

- Soviet airdrop weapons and food. Soviet planes flew 282 flights over the fighting Warsaw.

- German troops attack Upper Czerniaków.
