Warsaw Uprising Calendar: September 15 - 17 - Polish Army attempts to cross the river to join the fight


September 15 

The first units of the 1st Infantry Division of the Polish Army landed on the Czerniakow bridgehead. 

September 16 

- 3rd Infantry Division of the Polish Army begun to fight for the Warsaw bridgeheads on the left bank of the Vistula. 

- The German air force bombed the building of the "Helgoland" cinema, in which the insurgents created a camp for German prisoners of war. 

September 17 

- Some units of the Polish 2nd Infantry Division entered Żoliborz. 

- Unsuccessful attempts to establish telephone communication of the Home Army command with the Red Army.
