Warsaw Uprising Calendar: September 24 - 26: Mokotów falls

September 24 - the insurgents, after the fall of Czerniaków, are now defending themselves in three regions - in Mokotów, Żoliborz, and Downtown. The Germans decide one by one to liquidate the points of Polish resistance and on that day they start action against the insurgents in Mokotów.

September 25 - German soldiers continue their efforts in Mokotów. The command of the 9th army decides to negotiate with the insurgents to give up unnecessary resistance. Lt. Col. Józef Rokicki, the commander of the Home Army Mokotów, promises to "fight to the end."

The ever worse situation forces Rokicki to order the gradual withdrawal of forces to Downtown. The evacuation begins at night.

September 26 - Commander of the Home Army Mokotów evacuated his troops from Mokotów. The order of General Chruściel "Monter" ordering further defense of Mokotów did not reach him in time.
