First Polish SMR reactor in 2029

PKN Orlen and Synthos Green Energy signed an investment agreement to build and develop the technology of micro and small nuclear reactors (SMRs) in cooperation with the Polish Atomic Energy Agency. The reactor from GE Hitachi, BWR-300, will be the first one built in Poland - said Orlen's CEO Daniel Obajtek.

"Why did PKN Orlen choose GE Hitachi? It is a global leader, has the technology and the ability to manufacture reactors, and is the most advanced in the world. The company has a full network of suppliers, also from fuel producing companies," - emphasized Obajtek.

"In 2028, the world's first BWR-300 reactor will be built in Canada. I hope that in 2029 a second one will be in Poland," - he added.
