In Russia, if you doubt the "humanitarian mission of the USSR in liberating Europe" you will be arrested

According to the Russian media, today, Vladimir Putin signed a law sanctioning the equation of the Soviet Union and "Nazi Germany." The penalty will also include "denying the decisive role of the USSR in defeating Nazi Germany and its humanitarian mission in the liberation of the countries of Europe."

BTW: the Soviet Union was Nazi Germany's ally in 1939 when it attacked Poland.

The act is an amendment to the administrative code, introducing penalties for equating the role of the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany. The new law proclaims a violation is "any public identification of the USSR command and military personnel's goals, decisions, and actions with the goals, decisions, and actions of the command and military personnel of Nazi Germany and the Axis countries during the Second World War."

Also, punishable will be "the denial of the decisive role of the Soviet Union in defeating Nazi Germany and its humanitarian mission in the liberation of the countries of Europe."

The penalty may reach 50,000 rubles ($600) or 15 days of arrest.
