Putin is destroying Ukraine. EU is introducing sanctions against ... Poland

Mothers run away with their children to the nearest safe country. They found shelter in the hospitable homes of Poles. The Polish government has prepared a special law that gives refugees access to medical care and education.

At the same time, the EU was introducing severe sanctions, not against Russia but against Poland.

In his opinion piece for Newsweek, Rordigo Ballester wrote:

"[...] the day after it announced a new round of sanctions on Russia, by a large majority, the European Parliament called for immediate financial sanctions against Poland and Hungary for alleged violations of the rule of law.

While the world holds its breath in the face of a possible world war, the members of the European Parliament found the time to demand financial sanctions against the two European countries most exposed - and those welcoming hundreds of thousands of refugees. It was disheartening."

Like other EU countries, Poland was to receive money from the Reconstruction Fund, which aims to rebuild EU economies after the coronavirus pandemic for EUR 58.1 billion - EUR 23.9 billion in subsidies and EUR 34.2 billion in loans. Poland has still not received the funds it is owed, and, according to government sources, there is no chance for it soon.

Unfortunately, Poland has not received any funds to support refugees either.
