The Russians removed Polish flags at the Polish cemetery in Katyn, Russia. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marcin Przydacz, assessed that "this shows how far away Russia is today from civilization standards".
The minister was a guest on the television station, TVP Info, on Sunday. During the conversation, Marcin Przydacz was asked about the removal of Polish flags from the Katyn war cemetery by the Russian authorities.
"The Polish consul immediately intervened in the structures of Russian power there on the spot. Besides, there were very unpleasant scenes, because the Polish consul naturally referred to the previous arrangements, but also referred to civilization norms. [...] After all, no one in their right mind denies that Polish officers died there and that the Polish flag should hang. Russia is doing it provocatively. He takes off the flag in order to cause anxiety, but also in the spirit of some emotional revenge "- he assessed.
Katyn is a Polish cemetery that no one denies is the final resting place for the victims of the Soviet murders of Polish officers during WWII.
