The Pentagon has ordered Abrams tanks for Poland

The US Army has placed an order with General Dynamics Land Systems to deliver 250 M1A2 Abrams SEPv3 tanks, which will be delivered to Poland under the Foreign Military Sales program. The order is worth up to $1.148 billion.

"We are pleased to have been chosen to provide this critical armored capability to our allies in Poland," said Chris Brown, vice president of global strategy and international business development at General Dynamics Land Systems. “The M1A2 SEPv3 Abrams is the most advanced main battle tank in the world, and we look forward to getting it into the hands of Polish Soldiers.”

As early as 2023, deliveries of 116 Abrams M1A1 SA tanks will take place, which Poland is to receive to replace the tanks delivered to Ukraine. Training on the Abrams tanks has already started in Poznań. It uses 28 tanks in the M1A2 SEPv2 Abrams version. The training is carried out in close cooperation with the US Army.

Also, the Minister of National Defense, Mariusz Błaszczak, will sign an executive contract with Hyundai Rot today to deliver 180 K2 tanks.

Thus, in 2026, the Polish land forces will have as many as 546 modern Abrams and K2 tanks at their disposal.
