The head of the Ministry of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak approved a contract for the supply of 116 M1A1 FEP Abrams tanks, which are to be delivered to Poland in 2023-2024, to accelerate the replacement of equipment transferred to Ukraine.
The contract is worth $1.4B, and $200 million of it is US military aid. The subject of the contract is the delivery of 116 M1A1 Abrams tanks in the FEP version used by the US Marines.
In April 2022 a separate contract was signed for the supply of 250 Abrams tanks in the M1A2 SEPv3 version. Those tanks are to arrive at the end of 2024.
According to the delivery schedule, the first 58 vehicles will be delivered this year. All vehicles will be after general repairs, with zero mileage. 20 of them had already started refurbishment at the US Army's Anniston Army Depot in December.
