Poland to ask UN to intervene in the issue of war reparations from Germany

Poland is directing a motion to the UN requesting the international body to intervene in the issue of war reparations, Deputy Foreign Minister Arkadiusz Mularczyk announced in an interview with the Polish public radio broadcaster.

When asked on Polish Radio 1 about the issue of war reparations, Mularczyk pointed out that the Polish government had taken a number of actions in this matter. "We have sent over 50 notes to the countries of the European Union, the Council of Europe, and NATO so that this matter is known among our allies," he said.

He added that a request was also made to UNESCO regarding the looted works of art from Poland and to the Council of Europe.

He also stressed that the purpose of these interventions is "to make the international community" and the most important international organizations aware that "there is a problem of unaccounted crimes."

“We are asking for an intervention on this issue, to create a certain platform for talks with Germany, which does not want to hold this dialogue,” Mularczyk added.
