Poland announced locations of first seven SMRs. US will support the project

Today, Monday, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and President of PKN Orlen Daniel Obajtek announced the locations of the first modular nuclear reactors (SMRs) in Poland at a press conference. By the end of the year, Orlen is to announce twenty locations for the construction of SMRs.

Also on Monday, at the residence of the US ambassador in Warsaw, a letter of intent was signed regarding the possibility of supporting the development of SMRs in Poland with an amount of up to USD 4 billion. 

Representatives of the American EXIM Bank, Development Financial Corporation, and Orlen Synthos Green Energy signed a letter of intent, opening the way to support the development of small modular nuclear reactors in Poland with up to four billion dollars. The document confirms that the credit agencies of the US federal government are interested in supporting the development of the BWRX-300 technology in Poland.
