Contract signed for the design of the first Polish nuclear power plant

Energetyka24(.)com: On Wednesday, 'Polish Nuclear Powerplants' (PEJ) signed a contract with the Westinghouse-Bechtel consortium to design the first nuclear power plant in the Pomerania region. The contract was signed in Warsaw during a ceremony attended by, among others, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and US Ambassador to Poland Marek Brzezinski.

The agreement was signed by PEJ President Mateusz Berger, Westinghouse President Patrick Fragman, and John Howanitz from Bechtel.

The ESC design services contract (Engineering Service Contract) provides for the design of the main components of a nuclear power plant: the nuclear island, the turbine island and accompanying installations.

The duration of the contract is 18 months, under which over 400 reports and studies will be created. The agreement also provides for the design of supply chains, support for the investment process, and preparation of documentation for a building permit.

As Berger noted, the project contract was the company's main goal for this year. "We are finishing the planning stage and starting the design stage," said the president of PEJ.
