Poland will extend controls at the border with Slovakia

Niezalezna(.)pl: Poland will extend the temporary checks on the border with Slovakia for another 20 days, until November 2, said the head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, Mariusz Kamiński, on Polish Radio Channel One.

- Today we will announce that the temporary control will be extended until November 2. This is in line with the Schengen Code. This is the procedure. Today we will also inform the European Commission that we are entering the second stage and extending the temporary control. There are good results, there are clear effects. There will be no illegal migration routes through Poland - said Kamiński.

- After the decision was formally implemented, we started intensive inspections. We exposed approximately 550 illegal immigrants. This showed us that the matter is serious, that this Balkan route, one of its branches, is actually functioning - said the minister.

It seems that we have blocked this route for some time, just as we effectively blocked the Belarusian route, which was never actually created, despite the intentions of Lukashenko and Putin (...) According to our information, illegal smugglers are now focusing on Austria, so I think that The Austrian authorities should mobilize and should, also from Austria, effectively block this movement of immigrants - added Kamiński.

Control on the border with Slovakia is in force from midnight, October 4. The border can be crossed through 8 road and 3 railway crossings and 11 pedestrian crossings, but it is not allowed in other places - e.g. on mountain trails in the Tatra Mountains.
