Niezalezna(.)pl: President Andrzej Duda summarized today at noon (local time) his consultations with party leaders. On Tuesday and Wednesday, he invited representatives of electoral committees that will be represented in the next Sejm for consultations. Meetings were held separately with each of the election committees in order consistent with the results achieved by these committees in the elections.
"Today, we have two serious candidates for the position of prime minister. We have two political groups that claim to have a parliamentary majority and a candidate for prime minister. One group is the United Right, the other group is the Civic Coalition, Third Way and the Left" – noted President Andrzej Duda.
"The United Right announced that their candidate for prime minister would be Mateusz Morawiecki. - " They assume that they will have a majority in the Sejm, " said President Duda. – The candidate of the Civic Coalition, Third Way, and the Left is Donald Tusk," – he said.
"This shows that we actually have two serious candidates for prime minister. This is a new situation in our democratic standards. There has never been a situation where one party won the elections, while the other parties, which also have their representatives in parliament, claim that they will have the majority - without the winning group - and they present their candidate for prime minister" - said Andrzej Duda. - “This is certainly one of the most serious issues I am considering now."
The President said that he saw no reason today to shorten the constitutional 4-year term of office of the Sejm.
– It ends on November 12. November 13 will be the first session of the new term of Sejm.
