Wpolityce(.)pl: "On Monday, I will present the composition of the government. I will talk to the Speaker of the Sejm about the date of the expose," - Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said on Friday. He added that he was in talks with parliamentarians of several groups.
When asked whether the group of parliamentarians he was talking to included PSL MPs, he replied:
"My colleagues and I talked to several dozen MPs from various political formations, but we promised to keep the negotiations confidential. It is known that our political competitors will try to blackmail and intimidate. This is already happening, and we want to ensure the safety of our interlocutors."
The Constitution states that if current PM fails to appoint a government, the Sejm will take the initiative.
A candidate for prime minister can be proposed by a group of at least 46 MPs. The Sejm would elect the Prime Minister and members of the government by an absolute majority in the presence of at least half of the statutory number of Deputies. The president then will appoint the elected government and take its oath.
