In 2023, the PiS government established a parliamentary commission to investigate Russian influence on the internal security of the Republic of Poland in 2007-2022.
From the very beginning, the commission was a thorn in the side of the then opposition. On November 29 - already in the new term of office of the Sejm - a committee headed by professor Cenckiewicz announced a partial report and presented recommendations that Donald Tusk, Jacek Cichocki, Bogdan Klich, Tomasz Siemoniak, Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz should not be entrusted with public positions responsible for state security in connection with the recognition of the Russian Federal Security Service as a partner service in 2010-2014 .
On the day the report was announced, the Sejm dismissed all members of the committee, which suspended its activities. The same Sejm actually did entrust the above-mentioned people with highly sensitive positions.
Before noon (local time) today, the Chancellery of the President announced: "President Andrzej Duda, pursuant to Article 122(5) of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland of April 2, 1997, refused to sign the Act of July 24, 2024 repealing the Act on the State Commission for the Investigation of Influences on the internal security of the Republic of Poland in the years 2007–2022 and on August 16, 2024, and submitted the act to the Sejm for reconsideration."
PN: Ironically, the parties that want to disband the commission came up with the idea of establishing it. But, they only wanted to investigate the period 2015 - 2022. The governing party simply expanded the scope of investigation.
