On Sunday, in Wieluń and Westerplatte, celebrations were held to commemorate the next anniversary of the 1939 attack of Nazi Germany on Poland. The most influential politicians in the country took part in them, headed by President Andrzej Duda, Speaker of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia, and Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
Unlike in previous years, no representatives of the German government came to Poland. As "Sueddeutsche Zeitung" writes, Olaf Scholz's cabinet members were not invited to the celebrations. In turn, some German politicians who were supposed to be in Gdańsk on September 1 canceled their presence.
Due to the lack of compensation, Polish-German relations are getting worse and worse, even though the Polish Prime Minister cannot even indicate who attacked Poland.
Celebrations are held throughout the country on the anniversary of the German aggression against Poland. In Gdańsk, Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Speaker of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia participated in the celebrations. However, both of them omitted a very important aspect in their speeches.
Both the head of PO and the leader of Poland 2050 talked about the Polish heroes of those times and the need to prevent this fate from repeating itself. However, they could not indicate who was behind the crimes committed against Poles. To put it simply, the word "Germany" was never mentioned.
That proves that the current Polish government is "bought and paid for," if that could be proven, the future Polish-German relations would worsen. Germany will never be able to get away with their crimes against Poles and Poland.
