Nobody said that you have to be a genius to run a government, but the current Prime Minister Donald Tusk is a proof of the opposite.
Donald Tusk announced on X that he had decided to revoke the his countersignature under the presidential act appointing judge Krzysztof Wesołowski as the chairman of the Assembly of Judges of the Civil Chamber of the Supreme Court.
Apparently, nobody told him that a countersignature cannot be annulled; a legal act can be annulled, but not a signature.
Constitutional scholar Professor Ryszard Piotrowski added that the Prime Minister of the Polish government cannot make declarations on Twitter on state matters, and there is no formally expressed position in this situation, there is no announcement on the website of the Prime Minister's Office - says the expert. As he points out, "not only is there a need to clearly state what countersignature is meant and what official act of the president is in question, but also a justification - the legal basis must be provided."
PM: Tusk's critics already suggested that following his logic, the President could nullify his signature under the decision to appoint Tusk as a head of government.
