TVN and Polsat television stations will be included in the list of strategic companies subject to protection, said Prime Minister Donald Tusk. This is his response to the emerging information about the possibility of TVN being taken over by companies from Hungary or the Czech Republic.
TVN is owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, which makes it a sister station of CNN. Unfortunately, the station also behaves like CNN by being a propaganda machine of the current government and left leaning party, Civic Platform.
PM Donald Tusk wants to "protect" the station he favors against takeover by entities that could be independent.
"I have decided to supplement the regulation on the list of entities subject to protection and the competent control authorities with the inclusion of TVN and Polsat television stations. They will be included in the list of strategic companies that are protected against, for example, a takeover that is dangerous from the point of view of the interests of the Polish state," – Tusk said today at a press conference.
"What happened in the case of TVN, of course, shows how dependent the current team is on this station, which was once established by people from the (internal security) services and which strictly implements a certain concept of post-communist elites in Poland," - commented the head of the TV Republic, Tomasz Sakiewicz.
PN: It will be interesting to watch how it will develop since TVN is American owned.
