Dr. Karol Nawrocki, a citizen candidate for the President of the Republic of Poland, visited the seaside town of Redzikowo, where the base of the American anti-missile shield was established after many years of construction. The ceremonial opening of the base took place in November 2024.
He recalled during the press briefing that Poland is currently in a situation where there are 10,000 US Army soldiers.
The defense of the Polish state and security - and this will not change - consists primarily in building the Polish armed forces. Allies defend those who can defend themselves. My presidency will be another step towards building the largest land army in Europe, a 300,000-strong Polish army, as well as fulfilling the contracts signed before October 15, 2023 to build the military resilience of the Polish state. These are investments that must be implemented for Poland's security, - said Dr. Nawrocki.
The candidate recalled the long history of establishing the base in Redzikowo.
- It is sad that the Redzikowo base was built in pain. In a formal sense, it was established in 2007, and the negotiation strategy was signed by Prime Minister Jarosław Kaczyński. The creation of this base did not suit Putin, who was not satisfied that it would be built within Poland's defense infrastructure. Donald Tusk, who spoke these words on Putin's behalf, became the spokesman for Vladimir Putin's interests after 2007. Radosław Sikorski talked about the constant monitoring of this base by the Russian side - said Nawrocki.
He added that "this resulted in many years of delays in the opening of this base."
Referring to Donald Trump's inauguration as US president on Monday, Karol Nawrocki pointed out that it is a "great opportunity that we must use to make Poland a leader in the EU in building transatlantic bridges."
But that is under a specific threat. It was not by accident that I mentioned Donald Tusk, who became Vladimir Putin's spokesman. This is not a matter of party or political sympathies. It is a matter of the security of the Polish state. Tusk insinuated things against Trump that should not have happened.
He added that if Rafał Trzaskowski wins the election, the most essential part of the national security relationship may be threatened.
Two Civic Platform members in power (President and PM) may return us to the situation from 2007, which threatens the Polish state.
