"Our right to defense was violated, we were treated inhumanely, they tried to break us," said Urszula Dubejko, who, together with Karolina Kucharska, took part in the debate in the European Parliament building, where they presented how the state treated them after the coalition took power.
Karolina Kucharska told the members of the European Parliament gathered in the hall about the scandalous treatment she was subjected to after her arrest and detention, where she spent seven months.
I am accused of official crimes that I did not commit. Throughout my professional career, I performed my tasks in accordance with the law. In the first moments of my detention, disproportionate repression and harassment were used against me.
Interrogations lasting several hours without providing me with food and rest, using the toilet only under the supervision and observation of men. This is what the first days of my detention looked like.
The situation did not change when I was placed in pretrial detention. The acts of crimes I was accused of were in no way a basis for my treatment in custody as a dangerous prisoner.
I was placed in a cell with 24-hour monitoring, including a toilet. It didn't stop them from waking me up every two hours at night by turning on the light. This effectively upset my body. My basic rights as an arrested person, including the right to defense, were limited by making it difficult to receive correspondence from my defense lawyer. I waited about a month for the documents to be handed over to me, which I was supposed to respond to within a few days, which was not possible for obvious reasons. My right to profess religion and engage in religious practices was restricted due to the inability to use priestly service, and rosaries from my mother were not issued for two months, explaining that it was not an object of religious worship.
PN: This story is similar to the treatment of political prisoners during communist regime. Tusk's government has nothing to be proud of.
