FEMA Testing Wireless Emergency Alerts on Wed. Oct. 3

On Wed. October 3, there will be a Wireless Emergency Alert System test by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) across most cell phones beginning at 2:18 p.m. est.  The test signal will be active for 30 minutes, but your phone should only receive the message once during this window.

During this test, all cell phones receiving the signal will play a loud tone (twice) and vibrate, and will display a "Presidential Alert" box on the screen and text that reads:  "THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System.  No action is needed."
