Polish Army will buy Fords instead of Nissans

Vehicles that need to be replaced: Defence24
As reported on his social account by Minister Mariusz Błaszczak and later confirmed in a statement from the Ministry of National Defense, Ford Ranger, and not Nissan Navara will replace Honkers as ATVs in the Polish Army. An appropriate annex was added to the contract with the contractor, which is allowed, among other provisions introduced under the anti-crisis shield.

The main reason for changing the type of vehicles that will be delivered to the Polish Army are the problems with the manufacturer - Nissan, which this year suffered big losses. In April 2020, global car production of this brand fell by 62 percent (up to 150,000 copies) and sales revenue by 42%. Although the main "perpetrator" of these problems was the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Nissan was struggling with problems before, especially after the scandal related to Carlos Ghosn, who was arrested in 2018 in connection with allegations of embezzlement. On May 28, the company announced that last year it recorded $ 6.2 billion in losses, thus reducing global production by 20 percent from 7.2 million to 5.4 million cars produced annually in 2022-2023 and will close factories in Spain and Indonesia. It was the factory located in Barcelona that produced Nissan Navara for the European market, which were also to be sent to the Polish army.
