German FM: We are in favor of sanctions and Nord Stream 2

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas declared on Monday that he supports sanctions against Russia for, among others, the imprisonment of the anti-Kremlin oppositionist Alexei Navalny. At the same time, he spoke out to maintain a "constructive dialogue" with Moscow. Gas supplies from Russia to Germany via the new undersea gas pipeline Nord Stream 2 will begin soon.

This is Germany's diplomacy and foreign policy. They officially criticize Russia, even calling for sanctions to be imposed on it. Simultaneously, this does not prevent them from accelerating the implementation of the controversial Nord Stream 2 offshore gas pipeline, sealing the best economic cooperation between Germany and Russia.

That should not be a huge surprise for those with limited knowledge of the history of the last century. In 1920 Germany actively supported the Soviet Union's invasion of Poland, and then again in 1939, both countries started World War2.
