Warsaw Uprising Calendar: August 21 - failed attempt by Kampinos Forest units to enter Old Town

- The Old Town is again under heavy artillery fire. This district is the proverbial "thorn in the eye" of the German forces delegated to suppress the Warsaw Uprising. For several days it has been resisting fierce strikes by artillery, air force, infantry, and armored forces. 

- At night, the insurgent groups attempted to enter the Old Town and Żoliborz from Kampinos Forest. The attack fails. 700 soldiers did not manage to break through the barrier composed of German forces

- In Mokotów district, the insurgents defend themselves at ul. Circular and repel the attack of German tank units.

- The Germans blew up the Pawiak prison and the nearby women's prison - called Serbia.
