Warsaw Uprising Calendar: August 23 - insurgents attack the University of Warsaw

- The insurgents seized the church of St. Cross in Krakowskie Przedmieście (Kraków suburb) and the nearby Police Headquarters. 

- Poles attack German positions at the University of Warsaw.

- Fights in the Old Town have been going on since morning. Before noon, the insurgents shoot down a German bomber. 

- The Germans tried to seize the buildings of the "Fiat" factory and the National Security Printing Works. The insurgents managed to repel the enemy.
