2,500 Territorial Defense Forces soldiers spent Christmas on Polish border


 During Christmas, 2.5 thousand Territorial Defense Forces (WOT) soldiers will carry out various tasks on the border; soldiers will also support medical personnel in hospitals, said Col. Marek Pietrzak, the press spokesman of the Territorial Defense Forces.

"Our activity at the border makes more and more Polish citizens want to join the Territorial Defense Forces."

The Territorial Defense Forces (WOT) is the youngest, fifth type of the Polish Armed Forces. Territorials were established on January 1, 2007, by the then Minister of National Defense, Antoni Macierewicz. The commander of the Territorial Defense Forces is Lieutenant General Wiesław Kukuła - former commander of the Military Commando Unit from Lubliniec. Territorial Defense Forces at this point have 20 brigades.
