KGHM and NuScale will sign a contract for SMRs

Polish KGHM and the American NuScale Power are to sign an important agreement. As part of the cooperation, it is planned to develop and build 4 small modular SMR nuclear reactors with an installed capacity of approximately 1 GW. It would be the largest installation of this type in the world. The project is to be implemented by the end of 2030.

Jacek Sasin, Minister of State Assets, set off for talks with the Americans. As he himself announced on his Twitter account, "he has good news for Poland." More will be announced today at the press conference at 6 p.m. Polish time.

On the way to the US are also the President of KGHM Marcin Chludziński and the Minister of Development and Technology Piotr Nowak.

Both companies signed a preliminary agreement last year (MoU) for the construction of small modular reactors (SMR), and the transaction is to be finalized on Monday.
