On Friday, a ceremonial Assembly of Deputies and Senators are planned, convened to celebrate the anniversary of Poland's accession to NATO. President Andrzej Duda is to deliver the message. A speech by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, and the Secretary-General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, are also scheduled.
The head of the president's cabinet, Paweł Szrot, explained that during the assembly of deputies and senators, President Andrzej Duda will talk about the current security crisis, about the unparalleled aggression by Russia in the war unleashed in Ukraine in the context of Polish membership in NATO.
"The president will talk about the importance of membership in this powerful alliance for Poland's security," - stressed the head of the president's cabinet.
"President will also tell Poles that Ukrainians who are fighting for freedom and independence deserve all support" - Szrot added.
Today's Assembly of Deputies and Senators is not officially the National Assembly, because the latter is convened only in specific situations described in the constitution, such as the president's swearing-in, hearing the president's official message or recognizing the president as incapable of holding office.
