So far, there is no specific EU aid for grain exports from Ukraine. We appeal to the European Union to provide us with containers for transporting grain or reloading devices, said Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Agriculture Henryk Kowalczyk.
As he said, the European Union is aware of the threats caused by the problem with the export of grains from Ukraine, but it is not followed by actions.
"We have been promissed solidarity corridors, but there are no specific actions. I appeal to the Union to provide us with grain containers and handling equipment, because in Poland and Ukraine there are different track gauges. You have to think about what to do after the harvest. We have a month and a half to do so" - said Kowalczyk.
He added that the announcement by American President Joe Biden to build silos for Ukrainian grain in Poland was "political and declarative".
"We have very specific problems. We indicate places where such silos could be built, where there are still wide tracks, because that is where it is easiest to bring grain from Ukraine and store it. For example, Sławków is such a station. We have quite a lot of such places. We are waiting for specific solutions" - said the head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
